The gong ceremony

5. June 2022 @ 12:00 - 14:00

All scriptures, including the Bible, tell that the world started with a sound: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”.

During the Old Town Days, the visitors can participate in the grand gong ceremony in St. Catherine’s Church where we call attention to spiritual values to support our mental health.

The gong ceremony is a concert-meditation that celebrates being a human, the journey of a person, the purity of a soul, and seeing and feeling the world with one’s heart. We create relaxing, balancing, bright and loving space where one can forget the rush of the world for two hours, find peace, relax, meditate, and revive oneself.

We align ourselves to compassion, understanding, supporting each other, freedom, joy of life, inspiration, creativity, bright future, and love.

The ceremony will be performed by life partners Tiina Karjatse and Andres Põhjala.

Planetary pieces will be played during the gong ceremony – Sun, Earth, Moon, Mars, and Venus, Jupiter, Neptune, Sedna, Chiron. Other instruments with harmonious sound can also be heard, for example crystal singing bowls,Tibetan singing bowls, drums, rattles, an ocean drum, a rain stick, wind chimes, Jew’s harp, song, etc.

Magnificent ceremonial mystery of sounds offers a new experience for everyone despite their age. In this way, every guest can take with them the recognition of harmonic oscillation that will continue to ring in every fibre of their body and their heart. The space of the Old Town will be enriched with the presence of people who are more balanced, happier, and resonating in tune with the world.

GONG is a sacred instrument with grand and all-compassing sound. It is one of the oldest instruments in the world that with its mystic sound rich with overtones helps to achieve the state of deep relaxation. Orient philosophy claims that the organic sounds of a gong help to leave fears and other negative emotions behind. Diving into the ocean of gong sounds dissolves the questions and problems that haunt us in our daily lives. These sounds balance the organism by helping the brain achieve alpha-theta levels. This in turn increases our creativity and multiplies the activity of the immune system. Our thoughts, feelings, emotions, words, and actions are vibration that we radiate. Gong sounds are a means to organize that vibration, modify and balance it.

Therefore, it is not surprising that people who participate in a gong meditation and ceremony afterwards often report feeling fresh and rested, seeing solutions to their problems, finding answers to their questions, and experiencing inner peace, happiness, bliss, and bursts of inspiration and creativity.
