Come and see for yourself how the elixirs of life and beauty are being cooked at midnight in a big cauldron of music. April 8th of this year marks the
600th anniversary of the first mentioning of Tallinn Town Hall Pharmacy. This is the oldest pharmacy in Europe that has continuously been operating in the same place. At midnight, we will share the Town Hall Pharmacy’s tale on the Town Hall Square’s Old Town Days’ stage with light show, music, and dance from the folktronica group OOPUS.
The creation of OOPUS brings together Estonian folk music, electronic dance music, light, and visuals. We perform everything live and call it folktronica. By the use of lighting solutions that beat to the rhythm of bagpipes, old runic songs, acid synthesizers, and music, OOPUS paves the way for folk music and electronic dance music to reach the world’s club stages. This year sees the release of their second album Folk On Acid.
The members of OOPUS are Mari Meentalo (Estonian bagpipe, vocals, loopers), Johannes Ahun (analog synthesizers, sound), and Aleksander Sprohgis (light installations and visuals).
