GALLERY: Old Town Days festival life and opening concert with Puuluubi

The 42nd edition was launched yesterday. Tallinn Old Town Days. There was a buzz of activity from the morning onwards, but the party was kick-started by a performance by Puuluup on the main stage. Take a look at yesterday's gallery and pick out today's highlights for yourself.

The festival's first newcomers could already be spotted at the craft fair in the morning. As the day progressed, the Old Town's courtyards, parks, alleyways and squares became more lively. Strollers around the city were able to experience traditional songs and games and learn about the folk costumes of different localities.

Before the official start of the festival, a high-level contemporary circus performance was staged on the main stage and soon it was time for the opening. Mayor Yevgeny Ossinovsky and city centre elder Sander Andla gave the opening speeches.

What to discover in the Old Town today?

The evening's headliners are villemdrillem and Elina Born, who will start at 18.00 on the main stage of Harju Street. The darker side of music will be represented by the Kosmikud, the so-called depressive rock villains, at 20.00.

You can take part in activities organised by the branches of the Tallinn City Museum, draw, make a seed bomb and take part in the bubble and science theatre. There will also be the chance to take part in a mobile ghost hunt.

Churches, museums and courtyards offer a full day of discovery. Estonian minority groups will perform colourful performances on the stage of the Year of Cultural Diversity in Komandandi Garden. In the Heritage Village on Towers Square, you can enjoy concerts by various groups and ensembles.

For a unique experience, start at 21.00 in the Bishop's Garden. Silent disco. This event will delight people in the area, as the music will be played through the headphones.
