Sounds and stories from Ruhnu Island is a special project because it contains a section of forgotten Ruhnu Swedish violin music and choral tunes performed by traditional musicians Karoliina Kreintaal and Lee Taul. Singer and storyteller Kairi Leivo gives the concert an interesting nuance. The stories, sometimes dating back hundreds of years, give an idea of a unique tradition. The stories of the current islanders' everyday lives offer the listener both humorous pictures and current events of village life on the lonely island of Ruhnu.
For more than 10 years, the members of the ensemble Sounds and stories from Ruhnu Island have been dedicated to reviving the rich cultural heritage of Ruhnu Sweden.
