Kohtla-Järve Gymnasium's folk rock band KRATT

The folk rock band KRATT from Kohtla-Järve Gymnasium began its activity in July 2022.
Our greatest inspiration and influences for playing folk rock come from the former fervent folk rock band Oort, as well as Trad.Attack!, but we have kept our eyes and ears carefully open to explore folk music and its developments in a rock key more broadly. Getting acquainted with the music of these excellent bands has already led us to experiment with our songs. It's hard to draw the line between folk music and original compositions, but starting from old runic songs, it's exciting to build something unique and different on top of them. Therefore, authorship is not so important for these songs, as it is more of a collaborative effort. The first performance took place at the Jõhvi Aviation Day. Since then, we have performed at both the Jõhvi Concert Hall and the Kohtla-Järve Cultural Center, as well as at our school, of course. At the Koolirock event in Kosel, the band was recognized for the most compact performance, and at the Antidolorosum" school band festival held at Kohtla-Järve Gymnasium in March 2023, the band was recognized for the best ensemble performance. In the summer of 2023, Kratt participated in the Viljandi Folk Festival. The 2023/2024 academic year started with a prestigious performance at the Jõhvi Concert Hall on the main stage at the Ida-Viru Education Gala."
