Northern Europe's oldest town hall opens its doors from the basement to the attic and tower for Tallinn Old Town Days. Come and wander through more than 700 years of history!
In the basement, you'll be greeted by the kite Old Thomas, whose 500th birthday will be celebrated in five years' time. A colourful animation tells the story of the building of the Town Hall, while models give a vivid impression of Tallinn's medieval ramparts and weigh-house. In the Citizens' Hall, you can imagine yourself among the city's most distinguished guests, hosted here through the centuries. In the Raesaal, you step into the former courtroom where trials were held from the 15th to the 19th century.
You can also hide in the counting room and climb up to the attic of the Town Hall, which is only open in summer. In the attic you can learn about the story of the restoration of the Town Hall.
Challenge yourself and climb the Town Hall Tower! The 115 limestone steps of the medieval spiral staircase will take you to the bell tower at 34 metres. There, sentries kept watch and sounded the alarm if they spotted smoke or fire.
Take the opportunity to visit Tallinn City Hall before the summer season opens!
