A walk in the historic goldsmiths' house in Tallinn Old Town

The Hobusepea 2 building is one of the best-kept secrets of Tallinn's Old Town. Several galleries are permanently open to the public, but the cosy studios of dozens of Estonian jewellery artists and a cellar with an awe-inspiring machine-gallery remain hidden from the unassuming.

The Hobbuspea 2 building is a good example of historical continuity, allowing us to believe that fairy tales can come true. It is the home of a large number of works of art from the golden age of Estonian applied art, including, for example, the amulet of K. Päts.

Completed in 1891, Hobusepea 2 was built specifically for the production of jewellery and still serves the same purpose today. In the jewellery shop space, we can still recognise the A-gallery full to the brim with designer jewellery, the machinery in the basement of the building is still in operation today, and contemporary jewellery is still produced here and recognised the world over.

Katarina Kotselainen, one of the artists and history enthusiasts of Hobusepea 2, will take you on a special journey through the corridors of Hobusepea, where you can feel the atmosphere of the First Republic, to introduce you to the history of this exciting building and its modern inhabitants.

The tour starts in front of the A-Gallery.
